Synopsis:  this song embodies the essence of what made Annette the 1920's flapper.
It involves both the elements of the desperate torch singer, the vamp willing to risk
everything for a no good man that doesn't even care about her.  She can play the
sad torch singer and playful vamp in the same song and get away with it!  She sings
it with a bit of Ruth Etting singing the sad song, and with a bit of the more mature Ethel Waters
and perhaps just a touch of Lee Morse.  Her small ensemble is what she likes best
and her musicians are perfectly matched on this one.  As she is so often able to
accomplish in many of her songs, she does here.  The steel guitar seems to answer
her plantive call for her man.  The song is filled with hot and cold running emotions.
Her man is hot as "Haedes" when he kisses his woman but he is cold for her.  The
song writer is full of emotion and Annette present it just as the song writer wanted.
It exudes with the kind of emotion only someone desperately in love can feel.

I'm so Unhappy
Left All Alone
Ain't Got Nobody to love now
The Man I long for
Is not so strong for me

He's not an angel
but I don't care
Perhaps a change
will come some day

Whatever he is
I want to be his weight
I don't need a Mammy
I don't need a friend

My heart is broken
it won't ever mend
I ain't much carin'
where I will end
but I must have that man

I'm like an oven
that's crying for heat
He treats me awful
each time that we meet

It's just unlawful
how that boy can cheat
but I must have that man

He's hot as Haedes
the ladies not safe in his arms
When she's kissed
But I'm afraid he's cooled off
and maybe I'm ruled off his list
I'll never be missed

I need that person
much worse  than just bad
I'm half alive
and he's driving me mad

He's only human
if he's to be had
I Must Have that Man

He's hot as Haedes
the ladies not safe in his arms
When she's kissed
But I'm afraid he's cooled off
and maybe I'm ruled off his list
I'll never be missed

I need that person
much worse  than just bad
I'm half alive
and he's driving me mad

He's only human
if he's to be had
I Must Have that Man

That's All!
