This is the same tune that Helen Kane recorded.  Helen played it straighter than Annette did.  Annette out did Helen at her own song if that's possible.  Helen sang the lyrics with a just one boop-boop-a-boop whereas Annette did a lot of scat singing all the way through the song.  Annette seems to sing the song as a put on as she is singing the lyrics for comic effect.  It's a fun song.

I Want to Be Bad

To Be, or to not to be
that is not the question
I decided long ago
to be
with me it's what to be
make me some suggestions
good or bad
which is the best for me
When you are after fun
and laughter's aggravate you
some reformer says a warmer climate
awaits you
If its naughty to roose your lips
shake your shoulder and twist your hips
Let  a lady,  confess
I want to be bad
and if its naughty to vamp the men
sleep each morning till after ten
Then the answer is yes
I want to be bad
whedea
This  thing of being a good little goody
is all very well
but what can you do
if you're loaded with plenty of hell
and vigor
when you're learning
what lips are for
naughtly to ask for more
but let a lady to
confess I want to be bad

But-but-da-daddle-dah-da
But-da-da-diddle-da-do
If its naughty to roose your lips
shake your shoulder and twist your hips
and let  a lady  confess
I want to be bad
Bad Girl
I do
And if its naughty to vamp the men
sleep each morning till after ten
then the answer is yes I'm gonna be bad, bad
girl
why all around they tell me how terribly naughty
I am
Bub-bup-di-do
nobody's caring and nobody's giving a damn
no credit
If its wrong to let someone take
just a little kiss by mistake
but let a  lady  confess
I want to be bad
