Now here is a song that Annette could really get into.  The one thing that Annette carried with her through her whole career and eventually made her quit was her shyness.  She never ever wanted to sing before a lot of people.  "Telling It to the Daisies" is a song she could identify with because of her shyness.  First it was her father that wanted her to sing and then her husband, Herman, that would hold a cup of water at her side when she sang each tune that wanted her to sing.  But he did right by her.  He booked all the acts and he got her some of the recording musicians that could ever be assembled together for any singer.  Together these musicians helped Annette make some of the best records that were ever made.

Telling It To the Daisies

Why am I so bashful
so afraid to part
with a lot of love with
locked up in my heart
for the want of courage
foolishly I tried
to conceal
what I reveal
by a countryside

Telling it To the Daisies
Hoping they'll tell you too
pouring my heart out to them
But it never gets back to you
What do I do on Sunday
Under those lonely skies
Same as I do on Monday
But they never do put you wise
Oh,  I'm so in love with you
and Oh,
I see you're never gonna know
unless the birdies tell you so
I know  I'm wasting
a lot of love time
time and again I'm blue
Telling it to the Daisies
but it never gets back to you

I keep on telling the daisies of the way that I'm blue
Oh so blue
pouring my heart out to them
but it never gets back to you
I keep on telling the daisies
underneath the sky
lonely sky
telling them how I miss you
but they never but they never do put you wise
Oh, I'm so in love with you
its easily seen that I'm shy
words just miss
when I'm feeling like this
my tongue is tied
I keep on wasting my love time
waiting for you
that's all I do
Telling it to the Daisies
but it never gets back to you
