This
is with Frank Ferrera's Hawaiian Trio (1929). This is more
of an instrumental with just the steel guitar doing most of the work and
a ukulele doing backup. Annette sings just one verse and she sings
the words so slow you want her to speed it up. I don't know what
they were attempting in this one, perhaps just a slow moody instrumental.
You just have to imagine the Hawaiian sunset in the distance as it slowly
sinks in the west. They recorded this in August, 1929 in New York
so it was probably hot and humid in studio. That may have set the
mood for the song.
Forget-Me-Not
Promise never
to forget me
life without
thee is but pain
linger yet
where first time I met thee
say you'll
never roam again
